Definition
Very fine grained fault rock which is composed of glassy matrix that often contains inclusions of wall-rock fragments.
Gossan is intensely oxidized, weathered or decomposed rock, usually the upper and exposed part of an ore deposit or mineral vein.

Archaeological Significance
Formation
Due to change in environmental conditions, rocks are heated and pressurized deep inside the Earth's surface. Pseudotachylite is formed from the extreme heat caused by magma or by the intense collisions and friction of tectonic plates.
Earth movements can cause rocks to be either deeply buried or squeezed and hence the rocks are heated and put under great pressure.

All about Pseudotachylite and Gossan Properties
Know all about Pseudotachylite and Gossan properties here. All properties of rocks are important as they define the type of rock and its application. Pseudotachylite and Gossan belong to Metamorphic Rocks.Texture of Pseudotachylite is Quench whereas that of Gossan is Rough, Sandy. Pseudotachylite appears Dull and Soft and Gossan appears Dull and Banded. The luster of Pseudotachylite is vitreous while that of Gossan is metallic. Pseudotachylite is available in black, brown, green, grey, pink, white colors whereas Gossan is available in brown, brown- black, gold, green, rust colors. The commercial uses of Pseudotachylite are creating artwork, gemstone and that of Gossan are cemetery markers, commemorative tablets, gemstone.
