Picrite and Basalt belong to Igneous Rocks.Texture of Picrite is Earthy, Rough whereas that of Basalt is Glassy, Massive, Porphyritic, Scoriaceous, Vesicular. Picrite appears Rough and Shiny and Basalt appears Dull and Soft. The luster of Picrite is subvitreous to dull while that of Basalt is not available. Picrite is available in black, brown, colourless, green, grey, pink, white, yellow colors whereas Basalt is available in black, brown, light to dark grey colors. The commercial uses of Picrite are as a feed additive for livestock, as armour rock for sea walls, metallurgical flux, pottery, source of magnesia (mgo) and that of Basalt are an oil and gas reservoir, commemorative tablets, creating artwork, used in aquariums.
