Formation

Formation
Marl forms when very fine-grained clay particles are deposited in water which settles at the bottom of water bodies and are compacted by overlying sediment; the water squeezes out and hence forming Marl rock.
Vogesite formation takes place deep beneath the Earth’s surface at around 150 to 450 kilometres, and are erupted rapidly and violently.

All about Marl and Vogesite Properties

Know all about Marl and Vogesite properties here. All properties of rocks are important as they define the type of rock and its application. Marl belongs to Sedimentary Rocks while Vogesite belongs to Igneous Rocks.Texture of Marl is Earthy whereas that of Vogesite is Porphyritic. Marl appears Rough and Dull and Vogesite appears Dull, Banded and Foilated. The luster of Marl is dull while that of Vogesite is subvitreous to dull. Marl is available in beige, brown, green, grey, white colors whereas Vogesite is available in black, bluish - grey, brown, dark greenish - grey, green, grey colors. The commercial uses of Marl are creating artwork, soil conditioner and that of Vogesite are an oil and gas reservoir, as a feed additive for livestock, gemstone, metallurgical flux, production of lime, soil conditioner, source of magnesia (mgo).
